The best Saffron in India is grown in the sacred land of Kashmir in North India. This Saffron can be used to make the Saffron Elixir - a great drink for bedtime. It can also be used in making desserts.
The best way to draw out the color of the saffron is to place 4-5 strands in a mortar and pestle and grind to a powder. Add 1 tbsp of hot water and mix well. Let the color develop for a few minutes before using it.
Store the jar in a cool dark place. Use within three months for maximum flavor and color.

1 gram in a glass jar
Saffron Elixir
1 cup milk
1/s tsp ghee
5 strands saffron
1/4 tsp cardamom powder
a pinch of cinnamon powder
1 tsp turbinado sugar
Place 5 strands in a mortar and pestle and grind to a powder. Add 1 tbsp of hot water and mix well. Let the color develop for a few minutes before using it.
Add the Saffron with the rest of the ingredients to a small pot and bring to a gentle boil. and sip before bedtime. Enjoy.
